Konox

Anduve hurgando entre los archivos viejos y me encontré este comercial al que le agregué los gráficos. El track está truculento, JA! En la oficina todavía no tenían ni un solo tracker decente y el After nomás no aguantaba.

I was digging up the old files and I found this ad which I added the graphics to. The track is a little bit deceiving, HA! At office in that time there was not any decent tracker and the After didn’t worked out.

Animal Planet

Últimamente no ha habido mucho movimiento interesante. Esta es una cortinilla, pero, es mi versión, ya que el cliente al final la modificó un poco para que usara un cierre que ellos ya tenían de antemano, un detalle que a mí no me gustó al final. La pieza no me fascina, pero, funciona.

Lately there haven’t been much movement around. This is a bumper, but, is my version, because the client modified the final one a little bit to make sure I used the closure they already had, a detail I didn’t like at the end. The piece is not my favorite, but, it works.

Compuestos

¿Qué es un compuesto? Algunos me han preguntado. Es bastante sencillo de explicar hacia los diseñadores, imaginen una fotografía retocada, pero en video, eso es. Para el resto, un compuesto, es un video o secuencia cinematográfica a la que se le modifica con videos u otras secuencias cinematográficas de tal manera que el resultado final es un nuevo video. Es un poco flexible la definición, y para muestra, dos comerciales donde participé, pero donde no hice completamente los compuestos.

What is compositing? Some people have asked me. It’s pretty simple to explain to the designers, imagine a picture digitally retouched, but in video, that’s it. For the rest, compositing, is a video or film footage modified with other videos or cinema footage in such way the final result is a new video. Is a little flexible the definition, and as a sample, two ads in which I participate, but I didn’t made all the compositing.

Este es un comercial para 7up, donde la idea es que el monito tiene calor y bebe un 7up mojito, pero la chica que aparece lo hace sonrojarse y bebe de nuevo el 7up para enfriarse. Aquí yo hice el empañado en ambas ocasiones y la mano que pasa para limpiarlo.

This is a tv ad for 7up, where the idea is the guy is feeling heat and drinks a 7up Mojito, and then the girl who appears makes him blush then he drinks again the 7up to chill. Here I made the steam in the screen and the hand cleaning it up.

Este segundo es una secuencia sin cortes de un viaje a través de un avión nuevo de Interjet. Este comercial tuvo una serie de dificultades técnicas, pues hubo mucho rotoscopio que hacer. Rotoscopio es recortar un video cuadro a cuadro. Mi participación aquí fue de rotoscopio, de estabilización de imagen y de arreglarle un diente a la señora de rosa.

This second one is a sequence without cutting of a travel across a new Intejet plane. This tv ad had a series of technical difficulties, because we had to rotoscope a lot. Rotoscope is cutting out a footage frame by frame. My participation in this one was doing a lot of rotoscope, stabilizing image and fixing a tooth from the lady in pink.

Italika

He regresado luego de una aventura en las inmediaciones de la nebulosa. Como estoy de buenas, voy a subir otra animación que también me gustó mucho cómo me quedó al final. El cliente era Italika, y la idea era explicar cómo es que las motocicletas son una buena opción para una ciudad como esta… y vaya que lo son, lástima que los condutores sigan siendo los mismos. ¬¬

I’ve came back after an adventure in the surroundings of a nebula. As I’m in a great mood, I’m going to upload another animation which I liked it quite much how it looks at the end. The client, Italika, and the idea was to show how motorcycles are a great option for transportation for a city like this… and sure they are, pity the drivers still the same. ¬¬

Squirt Final

Esta es la versión final de los layouts que me cambiaron y que me habían gustado. Creo que quedó bastante chicles después de todo.
This is the final version of the layouts I had already liked and they made me change them. I think finally it resulted quite cool after all.

Las Vegas

En los tiempos de la Copa Libertadores hice esta serie de compuestos para Santander, donde el comercial anunciaba una promoción que era un viaje a Las Vegas. En este caso les pongo dos videos, el comercial final y un compendio de los compuestos que hice donde se ve el antes y el después. Si quieren analizarlo con paciencia pos se vale, a ver si encuentran dónde hice trampa, JAJAJAJA! // In the Libertadores Cup times I made this series of composite for Santander Bank, where the tv ad was about a promotion for a Las Vegas trip. In this case I’m showing you a couple of videos, the final commercial and an edition of the composite I made where you can see the before and after, let’s see if you can find where I was cheating, HAHAHAHAHA!!

Gibert

Ahora les dejo un divertido video que quedó padre salvo el final, je, que ya me andaban correteando. La pieza se presentó en el “Círculo Creativo” con el fin de hacerle un homenaje a Enrique Gibert, un publicista argentino que se volvió muy conocido en el medio y tuvo relevancia en lo que la publicidad en México refiere. Toda la idea viene de que las cosas se dibujan en una hoja en blanco mientras paseamos al rededor de la silueta de una bicicleta, pues era la pasión de Enrique Gibert quien murió arrollado por un coche rumbo al Ajusco.
Es curioso como cuando se trata de animación la cuestión de los créditos es muy vaga. Cuando dice un productor: “Es mi pieza” o “Yo produje eso”, obviamente “ellos” no lo hicieron, y justo en esta página lo veo: Homenaje a Gibert y justamente no veo por ningún lado mi nombre más allá de la leyenda “Animación y Postproducción: Óxido”. No es queja, nótese, es comentario sobre cómo la gente en el medio de la publicidad nos diluímos cuando los créditos se aplican a las empresas y no a la gente. Todos tenemos ideas, pero transformarlas de un mundo etéreo a algo existente es muy difícil y requiere a mucha gente. Finalmente, no importa si eres muy bueno haciendo esto o el otro, en nuestro mundo humano importa quién es el que da la cara cuando algo se hace, y es él o ella, el o la que se para el cuello diciendo: “Yo lo hice…” a pesar de haber muchos muchos más que también lo hicimos.

Now I share with you a cool video I made except for the final part, because I was under pressure. The piece was presented in the “Círculo Creativo” as a tribute to Enrique Gibert, an Argentine publicist who became well known and had big relevance in Mexico advertisement world. All the idea comes from objects being drawing in a white paper while we travel around a bicycle silhouette, because this was Enrique’s Gibert passion and die being rolled over while riding a bicycle on his way to the Ajusco mountains in Mexico City.
It’s funny how, when we’re talking about animation the matter of credits is quite vague. When a producer says: “This is my piece” or “I produced this”, obviously “they” didn’t make it, and I can see it here: Homenaje a Gibert and exactly in here I can’t see my name beyond the leyend: “Animation and Postproduction: Óxido”. This is not a complain, is a remark about how people in the advertisement business are diluted when the credits are applied to an enterprise and not to people. Everyone has ideas, but transform this ideas from an ethereal world into something existing is hard and requires lot of people. Finally, it doesn’t matter if you’re good at what you do, doing this or that, in our human world it matters who is the one showing his or her face when something is done, and is him or her, whom takes the credit saying: “I made this…” despite there were lot of people who also made it.

Almacenes García

Hace tiempo me tocó hacer compuesto para un comercial de “Almacenes García”, y antes que nada hice layouts, que son visualizaciones de cómo se vería la animación pero únicamente mostrados en algunos cuadros. Habían quedado re bien, lástima que al cliente lo único que le interesara haya sido una versión mucho más sencilla de los layouts que aquí les pongo, y al final, el comercial final en cuestión. Nunca sabremos si hubiera quedado mejor o no. // Time ago I had a work for a tv ad composite for a supermarket named “Almacenes García”, and before anything I made some layouts, which are visualizations of the look will have the animation but only shown in several still images. In my opinion the layouts were great looking, pity the client was interested in a simpler version of what I have posted in here, at the end, the tv ad I was talking about in its final version. We will never know if it would have been better the other way.

Eucerin

Un comercial hecho para Eucerin, donde mi trabajo fue principalmente de compuesto y animación pero únicamente en las tomas. Compuesto, ya saben, ponerle la imagen dentro de la pantalla, borrarle arrugas aquí, y allá y por acullá, agreégale brillito, rotoscopiar… dejarlo chulo de bonito. // A tv ad for Eucerin, where my work was mainly composite and animation but only in the live action takes. Composite, you know, add an image in the footage, erasing wrinkles here, and there and over there, adding shines, rotoscoping… just leave it perfect.

Sabritas

Aquí les muestro algunos detalles de animación que puede que hayan visto en la tele. Los dos primeros son cortinillas de los tazos de Sabritas, una recopilación de mi trabajo en la campaña. El tercero es un compendio de cierre de comercial de los anuncios para el Superbowl de la NFL y la promoción de las estampitas en los productos Sabritas, después hay un par de comerciales de cómo quedaron al final. // Here you can see some animation details which you might have already watched on tv. The first two are a wipers with the Sabrita’s “tazos” (sort of toys), part of my work for the campaign. The third one is an edition for the tv ads closure for the NFL’s Superbowl and the promotion of the stamps inside Sabrita’s products.
